Street Maintenance
The street maintenance division is responsible for maintaining and repairing city streets, sidewalks, and alleys. The
street division ensures that all traffic control markings such as crosswalks, legends, turn arrows, stop bars, center lines,
etc., and signal lights and street signs are legible and visible to provide for vehicle and pedestrian safety.
The street sweeper sweeps and cleans all accessible curb and guttered areas in the city on a weekly basis.
The street division also provides leaf pickup service from November 15th through January 15th.

Storm Drainage System
The storm drainage system consists of one city owned permanent discharge basin (commonly referred to as the Brickyard), one
city owned detention basin at the City's Corporation Yard, one city owned Park-Pond basin at Park Place, separate primary points
of discharge into the Consolidated Peoples Ditch along Belmont Avenue, an underground pipe network, and three lift stations.
The majority of the storm drain infrastructure in the downtown area was constructed prior to the 1940s while numerous additions
and repairs have been made to other parts of the town over the last 70 years.

Parks
The parks division provides the necessary maintenance, construction, and repair of our community parks and recreation facilities
which totals more than 31 acres.

Animal Control / Code Enforcement
The animal control division provides animal control services, municipal code enforcement, cruelty investigations and temporary
sheltering services for the City of Exeter.
Animals picked up by the animal control officer are temporarily held in an indoor / outdoor kennel facility located at the city's
Corporation Yard before they are transferred to the Valley Oak SPCA facility in Visalia. The City of Exeter has an animal
sheltering services agreement with the Valley Oak SPCA.
Water
The water division is responsible for the quality and quantity of water to serve our residents. This includes all necessary
and required testing as well as insuring we have adequate long term supplies for our residents.
The water division operates and maintains the city's water system which consists of eight wells, chlorination treatment facilities
at each of the active wells, two inactive wells, one elevated storage tank with a capacity of 100,000 gallons, and a loop
distribution system.

Sanitary Sewer Collection / Wastewater Treatment Plant
The waste water division operates and maintains the sanitary sewer system, which consists of collector lines ranging in size
from 4" to 36", and 9 lift stations.
The city's wastewater treatment plant receives and treats 980,000 gallons of sewage per day from residential and commercial
waste. Some of the treated water is used for local agricultural irrigation. You may review the city's

Dial-a-Ride
The city provides Dial-A-Ride curb-to-curb para-transit services on a shared-ride, demand response basis to locations within the
city limits of Exeter. For reservations call 559.592.8100.

Fleet Maintenance
Fleet and equipment maintenance for all city departments and divisions is performed at the city's Corporation Yard. State of
the art technology allows maintenance personnel to diagnose, repair and maintain the city's vehicles and equipment.
Refuse Collection
The City of Exeter contracts with Sunset Waste Systems to collect and dispose of solid waste from residential and commercial areas
within the city limits. Sunset Waste Systems provides once-a-week collection in the residential and commercial areas for
general refuse, green waste, and recyclable materials. For more information see the Refuse & Recycling page at this web
